Cabbage soup diet

based on 2 reviews

Goal: to lose 4 kg or more in one week

Be aware: this is only the goal of this diet, not necessarily its outcome. Results vary from person to person. Consult your doctor or dietician before starting this (or any other) diet.

The Cabbage Soup Diet

The cabbage soup diet is a crash diet. It is therefore important to note that after a crash diet you can easily gain the weight back you have lost on the (crash) diet.

On the homepage you can compare this diet with other diets.

Eat cabbage soup every day

If you follow the cabbage soup diet, you eat fat free cabbage soup for 2-3 times a day. Besides that, you are allowed to eat a few other things (this varies every day).

Below you can find an overview of the products you may eat every day of the diet.

  • Day 1: Fruits (except bananas)
  • Day 2: Vegetables
  • Day 3: Vegetables and fruits
  • Day 4: Bananas and skimmed milk
  • Day 5: Beef (or chicken without skin) and tomatoes
  • Day 6: Beef and vegetables
  • Day 7: Brown rice, fruit juice without sugar and vegetables

Just one week

It is important that you do not follow the cabbage soup diet longer than one week, because you do not get all the nutrients you need in one day (if, of course, you decide to follow this diet after consulting your doctor of dietician).

If you decide to try the diet several times in a row, make sure you take a break of at least 2 weeks in between.

Sports

Doing sports or exercises is not part of this diet. The idea here is that, because you eat very little during this crash diet (less than 1000 calories a day), it is not easy to do sports.

Be aware

Always consult your doctor or dietician before starting this (or any other) diet. A crash diet is heavy and may be unsuitable (or even dangerous) for you.

A true crash diet. Not suitable to follow for a long time. Very one-sided so you miss out on several nutrients. Especially protein intake is very low. As a result, you will lose muscle kilos as well as fat. In addition, part of the kilos you lose is mainly fluid. That 4 kilos sounds nice in 1 week, but these are not real fat kilos.

Pretty tough, although you can eat as much soup you want. It is quite a lot of work to make the soup and because my soup started fermenting after 4 days, I stopped. You might want to keep small bits of soup in the freezer to prevent fermentation. Not necessarily lost a lot of weight with this diet.
