The Fuck It Diet

Goal: to eliminate the obsession that chronic dieters have with food.

Be aware: this is only the goal of this diet, not necessarily its outcome. Results vary from person to person. Consult your doctor or dietician before starting this (or any other) diet.

The F*ck it diet

The Fuck It Diet was created by Caroline Dooner and is aimed at chronic dieters. Diets don't work, according to Dooner, and the fuck it diet is meant as an anti-diet.

On the homepage you can compare this (anti-) diet with different diets.

Chronic dieters

Chronic dieters are described as people who try different diets for a long time, but don't succeed in eating healthy, losing weight and/or feel out of control.

In the book, Caroline Dooner tells about being a chronic dieter herself. One day she decided to give in to her eating cravings and focus more on self-acceptance. Thus, the F*ck it diet was born.

A strong desire for forbidden things

Dooner says that dieting can give you a negative relationship with food. In many diets you are not allowed to consume certain products. For example, you are not allowed to eat fatty products. By focusing on those products, you develop a strong desire for exactly those products, says Dooner. When you mess up (for instance, you eat the fatty food anyway), you blame yourself. The book argues that the blame should be with the diet, not you.

Giving into cravings

By giving into your food cravings, for example by eating an ice cream when you crave it, your relationship with food should return to normal. Dooner says that giving into such cravings occasionally is the body's way of restoring balance.

Coping with binge eating

In the book, Dooner describes how to deal with (emotional) eating binges. The focus is on intuitive eating, among other things.
