Sirtuins

Sirtuins (or SIRTs) are a group of proteins which play a role in the non-expression or reduced reading of pieces of DNA. SIRT stands for 'Silent information regulator 2 protein'.

Less ageing & more fat burning

Sirtuins are, according to the inventors, proteins that have a role in the prevention of ageing and age-related diseases. Additionally, it is claimed that they can increase fat burning and that these proteins activate genes that are also activated during fasting.

Sirtfoods

The products you eat during the diet (the sirtfoods) are products that should activate these sirtuin proteins. According to Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten both Italian and Japanese cuisine contains many sirtfoods.

Below you can find a list of products that are claimed to be sirtfoods.

The first 3 days of the first phase, you eat a maximum of 1000 calories a day. The goal is to lose 4 kg. Your diet consists of 3 green juices and 1 meal with lots of sirtfoods.

The green juices contain the green sirtfoods from the list above. These include celery, rocket and kale.

Part 2 of phase 1

The rest of the week (days 4-7) you eat a maximum of 1500 calories a day. Your diet consists of 2 green juices and 2 meals with lots of sirtfoods.

Not a fan of a crash diet especially if it is one-sided as you can also run up deficiencies in a few weeks. I am a fan of the high intake of flavanoides, a good antioxidant, but would supplement with protein and unprocessed carbs.
