Be aware: this is only the goal of this diet, not necessarily its outcome. Results vary from person to person. Consult your doctor or dietician before starting this (or any other) diet.
The book "Type 2 Diabetes? Improve your health” by Karine Hoenderdos (dietician and journalist) and Hanno Pijl (diabetologist and internist) describes a diet that, according to the authors, is suitable for people with type 2 diabetes. This diet is a Dutch diet. The book is not available in English (yet).
On the homepage you can compare this diet with other diets.

The diet has 10 steps to break old habits. Some steps revolve around food: less fast sugars (sucrose, glucose, fructose et cetera), less carbohydrates and more vegetables. Other steps revolve around reducing stress, exercising more and dealing with situations where it is difficult to stick to your diet.
Each week you will carry out a new step. This way you slowly create a new lifestyle.
Type 2 diabetes? Make yourself better! contains a lot of information about type 2 diabetes and includes several recipes that go along with the diet. A cookbook has also been published.
The idea behind this diet is that you automatically feel full when you eat and drink nutrient-rich products. This should make it easier to stick to the diet.
Consult your doctor or dietician before starting this (or any) diet, especially if you have diabetes.

As you see fit
A big plus is that all aspects of lifestyle are looked at, such as diet, exercise, stress/relaxation. By making step-by-step improvements, you will be able to become healthier and fitter. It is just a pity that the dietary recommendations do not quite match the known dietary guidelines in Diabetes, such as the use of full-fat products and the restriction in carbohydrates.
The great thing about this 'diet' is that lifestyle change in particular is important if you want to tackle Diabetes. Being guided in this step by step makes it more personal. The addition of recipes makes it easier to follow.
Very nice book with accessible information about diabetes and delicious recipes for anyone with Diabetes type 2 who wants to start eating (more) carbohydrate restricted. We recommend this book to all our clients with Type 2 Diabetes. The sequel, the cookbook, is also highly recommended. We have successfully guided many clients on the basis of this method to a low-carb diet and an improved lifestyle, allowing them to reduce and even stop medication. Are you from the Den Bosch area and would you like to receive guidance/coaching in adjusting your diet to a carbohydrate-restricted diet, please contact us. You can find our contact details and more information on our website.
This book/diet gives good guidance and practical advice on how to reduce the amount of carbohydrates in your diet. It also explains how it works in your body if you follow this advice. In my practice, I regularly advise people to use this book. However, in many cases I also advise a slightly stricter carbohydrate restriction to see the effect in reducing belly size and improving blood glucose. But this is a great reference book to use (alongside).
With the professional help of a dietitian it should be easier to reach your goals. Please contact a dietician in your area or talk to a doctor before starting any diet.
Please take note that most diets do not have a scientific basis.
Consult your doctor or dietician before starting a diet, especially if you have a chronic condition like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, lung disease or kidney disease.
If you think you might have an eating disorder (like anorexia or bulimia), it is important to look for professional help. Contact your (house) doctor or find help elsewhere. Here you can find a list of several websites that can provide (online) help. These sites also provide information for people that know someone with an eating disorder.
