The Watermelon diet is a so called mono diet. You only eat watermelon for a number of days. There are different versions of this diet, which mainly differ in the number of days you only eat watermelon.
On the homepage you can compare the watermelon diet with other diets.

The watermelon diet is a typical crash diet. You consume a (very) low amount of calories for a short period of time in order to lose weight as fast as possible. The diet is also meant to be a "cleanse" (detox diet). By only eating watermelon the toxins should be flushed out of your body. How this is supposed to happen is unclear.
Depending on the variant, you only eat watermelon for three to ten days. After that, other food products are added to the diet. You can think of rice, wholemeal bread or lean meat. From this point on, the diet is no longer a mono diet.
There is also a version of the watermelon diet in which the food options are not limited to watermelon. Hence, this variant isn’t a mono diet. You eat 2 (regular) meals a day and in between meals you eat watermelon.

You only eat watermelons that are well ripe. You can eat them in pieces or mix them into a juice. You can also freeze small pieces and eat them as cubes.
Consult your doctor or dietician before starting this (or any) diet.
Examples of other crash diets are the 17-day diet, the cucumber diet, the 1200 calorie diet, the Dr. Nowzaradan diet and the cabbage soup diet.
