Be aware: this is only the goal of this diet, not necessarily its outcome. Results vary from person to person. Consult your doctor or dietician before starting this (or any other) diet.
The Banana diet is also called the ‘Morning banana diet’ or the ‘asa-banana diet’ and was created by Sumiko Watanabe.
On the homepage you can compare this diet with other diets.

The idea of the Banana diet is that you eat raw bananas in the morning. The advice is to eat 1 or 2.
You can, if you want, swap the bananas for another kind of fruit. However, it is important that you only use one type of fruit.
The rest of the day (at lunch and dinner) you can decide what you eat. However, there are a few restrictions that are mentioned further on. Also, the evening meal must be before 20:00 (ideally at 18:00).
Furthermore, it is advised to pick Japanese foods for lunch and dinner (the diet has its origin in Japan as well).
You are only allowed to snack in the afternoon (around 15:00). In some versions of the diet this can only be banana. Other versions allow more.
Although you can choose what you eat for lunch and dinner, there are a few restrictions. You are not allowed to eat desserts and it is not recommended to consume dairy products. In some variations, meat and refined sugars should also be avoided.
As for drinks, you can only drink water, just like in the monohydration diet. Alcohol is only allowed in very exceptional cases.
An important rule of thumb in the diet is to stop eating as soon as you are 80% full. This applies both to the banana breakfast and to the other meals.

In addition to dietary advice, the Banana diet also recommends sleeping well and eating mindfully. Above all, get enough sleep and go to bed before 00:00.
Consult your doctor or dietician before starting this (or any) diet.
The Banana diet belongs to the mono diets. Because you drink (almost) only water with the Banana diet you can compare it to the monohydration diet.
