The Piece of Cake method

Goal: to lose weight

Be aware: this is only the goal of this diet, not necessarily its outcome. Results vary from person to person. Consult your doctor or dietician before starting this (or any other) diet.

The Piece of Cake method

The Piece of Cake method is a translation from the Dutch ‘Appeltje Eitje methode’ which literally translates to ‘Little apple, little egg method’, but is a Dutch synonym to the English term ‘Piece of Cake’.

The method is from the Dutch ‘First Gouda Slimming Club’ (translated from "Eerste Goudse Afslankclub" - EGA). EGA published a handbook and recipe book (in Dutch) under the name ‘Appeltje Eitje’ (Piece of Cake). This is also the name of a 13-week course with e-mail support that is offered, besides the book, via appeltjeeitje.eu.

On the homepage you can compare this diet with other diets.

The Piece of Cake diet, the EGA diet or the Piece of Cake EGA diet

The Piece of Cake method is also called the Piece of Cake diet, the EGA diet or the Piece of Cake EGA diet. The method was created by Annie Disseldorp, also the founder and director of EGA.

Lose weight, gain weight or maintain your weight

The method is meant to lose, gain or maintain your weight. When you follow the method, you eat three healthy meals a day. An important aspect here is that these meals must have a good composition and quantity. In addition, the ingredients must be varied.

Besides the three meals, you can have pieces of cucumber, fruits or broth as snacks.

Examples of meals and snacks can be found in a preview of the book.

EGA food guide

In the EGA food guide, several rules are described that you have to follow during the diet. An example of such a rule is that products should never be fried in fat, butter or oil.

Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol

According to Annie Disseldorp the method helps people with diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. The aim of the method here is, for example, to use less medication (under supervision of a doctor).

Exercising during the diet

Annie's advice is to get the method right before you start exercising. You start with a little exercise (e.g. walking) and slowly build this up to more intensive sports.

Online 13-week course

The EGA online course is given via e-mail: a weight-loss consultant provides e-mail support. The course includes the ‘Appeltje Eitje’ book (Dutch) with recipes and a calorie counting guide. During the course, you will receive 13 weeks of extra sample menus, tips and support.

Piece of Cake can also be followed without supervision.
